Timothy Carnes, MD
Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine Physician
Dr. Carnes is a board certified Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine physician who was born and raised in southern Maine. After 15 years of practice in internal medicine, Dr. Carnes transitioned to addiction medicine and helped open an inpatient addiction treatment facility, where he served as the medical director and lead medical provider for four years. Dr. Carnes now works in several different locations in Maine providing outpatient addiction medicine care. When he is not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, enjoying the Maine outdoors in various physical pursuits, and searching for the elusive sheet of glass-like ice in the zen garden of his backyard ice rink. Dr. Carnes aims to provide compassionate and high-quality evidence-based medical care for patients struggling with addiction and mental health challenges.
Naomi Davis, LCPC
Clinical Counselor
Naomi holds a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and has over six years of experience in the behavioral health field. Prior to joining Cortex Behavioral Health, she worked in various roles in the Greater Portland community. This included providing crisis intervention support throughout Cumberland County, coordinating residential care for dual-diagnosed adults with a chronic illness, and facilitating addiction recovery for pregnant and postpartum mothers. Naomi takes a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to empower clients to explore and navigate their emotions while fostering a safe and non-judgmental space for healing. She is most interested in helping individuals work through major life transitions, encouraging them to lean into their values and strengths. Naomi integrates elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices into her work. When she is not counseling, she enjoys training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
